John joined Village Building Co.’s Board of Directors in February 2005.

John is widely recognised as an industry leader. He has significant breadth of experience across various commercial and industry disciplines. John enjoys a close working relationship with major banks, superannuation funds, institutional investors, financiers and senior professionals and property analysts, as well as many industry bodies. He was awarded the Order of Australia in 2009.

He served as the Inaugural Chair of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council. He is Australia's first representative on the International Board of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction, and in 2010 was appointed its Chairman. He is a past National President of the Property Council of Australia.

John works out of Sydney as a Non-Executive Chairman of AEH Property Ltd, as well as undertaking a number of governance positions.

Bob formed Village Building Co., at that time MBA Land, in 1988 and has held the position of Managing Director since that time.

Bob spent his first 10 years of employment in the NSW and Commonwealth Public Service, before starting his own development company in 1976. Bob has held various ACT private sector representative positions and ACT Government advisory committee roles. Prior to forming Village, he built 800 homes in the ACT, and was Chief Executive of the MBA ACT during the builders’ labourers deregistration. He is also past President of the MBA ACT.

Bob is a significant Village Building Co. shareholder.

John Hindmarsh, AM

John has been involved with Village Building Co. since its inception in 1988.

He attended Sydney Grammar School before graduating from the University of NSW with an Honours Degree in Building. He is Executive Chairman of Hindmarsh, established in 1979 – a company with an annual turnover approaching $500 million.

John has over 40 years’ experience in property, construction and business investment in Australia and overseas. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Building, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Canberra. He is skilled in project and construction management, general contracting, property development, car park management, retirement village operations and investment syndication.

John is a significant Village Building Co. shareholder.

Loyd Perin

Loyd has been involved with Village Building Co. since its inception in 1988.

He has worked in the Australian National Audit Office and the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department. He held senior legal and managerial positions for various corporate regulatory bodies, which were forerunners to the current Australian Securities and Investments Commission. He was past Managing Director of the Lidia Perin Memorial Hospital.

Loyd holds Directorships within the Perin Property Group Pty Ltd and associated entities, with extensive commercial property in the ACT and Queanbeyan region. Loyd is a significant shareholder in Village Building Co.

Michael De Simone

Michael De Simone

Michael has been with Village since 2012.

He was Managing Director of Canberra Contractors Pty Ltd and IC Formwork Services Pty Ltd from 1984 until 2012. He was instrumental in forming a consortium of three of Canberra's civil engineering contractors in a joint venture project to construct Gungahlin Drive Extension Stages A and B. Formwork construction projects have included the National Portrait Gallery, extension of the Australian War Memorial, Acton South, and many projects that define the landscape of Canberra.

Michael has been a primary driver for a consortium that has developed and built residential and commercial units in the ACT and Queensland. He served as an Executive member of the MBA ACT for 4 years.

He is recognised as a leader in the construction industry in the ACT, having been involved in the construction of over 6,000 building blocks for the ACT Government and Village Building Co..

Geoffrey Applebee

Involved with Village since 2013, Geoff brings over 22 years’ experience as a Partner at Ernst & Young (EY). Geoff served on the EY Board of Partners and Management committee, was Managing Partner of the Canberra office and Executive Partner, Sydney. He held other management positions in EY, and leading Entrepreneur of the Year (NSW/ACT), Government and business development programmes in addition to serving a broad range of clients.

Geoff has over 40 years in the accounting profession. He has chaired or served as a board member on a number of government and community organisations, and has also advised and chaired audit and risk committees.

Geoff provides guidance on strategic direction and corporate governance, and advice with client growth and satisfaction.
